Music Ministry

The music ministry at First UMC is lead by Judy Law. Judy directs the Chancel Choir, which sings at the 11:00 Sunday services.

The Sound of Worship

  1. The Worship Singers — a group of participants of any age, who arrive at 7:45 a.m. Sunday morning, practice and sing one familiar hymn, usually in unison, for the service that morning. The Worship Singers will provide the anthem on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at the 8:15 a.m. service. There are no scheduled rehearsal times other than from 7:45 to 8:10 a.m. Sunday morning; no responses; no robes; no processing or recessing; no sitting in the chancel, no hassle!
  2. The Worship Players — an instrumental group of musicians of any age or skill level (assuming they already know how to play their instrument) that will provide instrumental music for the 8:15 service. This group will have a scheduled rehearsal time of 9:00 a.m. on the Saturday mornings before the 2nd and 4th Sundays. The Worship Players will provide the music for the 8:15 service on the 4th Sunday of the month. This group will be under the codirection of Kathy Hersey and Judy Law.
  3. The Wesley Choir — a youth choir that provides all the music (Introit, Prayer Response, Anthem, Benediction) for the 8:15 service on the 2nd Sunday of the month. The Wesley Choir will have rehearsal at 6:15 p.m. on the Wednesday before the 2nd Sunday of the month.
  4. The Chancel Choir — the adult choir that provides all the music for the 11:00 a.m. service every Sunday. Chancel Choir rehearsal is held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday nights.
Rehearsals for all groups are held in the Choir Room.

Praise Band

First UMC is just beginning to form a praise band. The band provides contemporary Christian music for Sunday evening Praise Services. These are currently scheduled every month or two as we get started. See the calendar for the next one. If you want to be part of this exciting ministry contact Judy Law.
